Tyler's Take

In this edition of Tyler’s Take: Celeb Breakdown we have a look at up and coming country and pop recording artist Laura Bryna. Bryna is one of Nashville’s hottest new talents, but this country girl won’t have a tough time fitting into the fashion-forward scene here in L.A. Bryna’s take on style is one I LOVE to see. She’s classy and customized with threads that reflect her bright and cheerful personality. The country diva isn’t afraid to mix colors, textures and accessories. With a smile that bold and confident, it’s nice to know she has the clothes to match. I particularly like the custom-made monogrammed jeans (Claudio Milano) and torn jacket (J. Gerard). I’m told Laura’s L.A. debut will be at the House of Blues in Hollywood on August 10th – if her performance is as hot as her outfit, we have one smokin’ show to look forward to!

Bryna who is spokesperson for the Air Guard Ad Campaign, invites anyone interested in entering the nationwide "Hometown Heroes Contest," to log onto her Web site. Submissions for the campaign, sponsored by Bryna and Southern Beauty magazine, are being taken through the end of June at www.LauraBryna.com.

We were also able to do a little Q&A with the country/pop starlet

B|E Scene: How would you describe your personal style?

Laura Bryna: I'd say my personal style is 'funky chic.'

B|E: How does your music influence your style?

LB: I think both my music and fashion sense are different than most. I like

to call my style "Countrypolitan." I do pop, bluesy, country which is

not traditional so my look seems to match well.

B|E: How did you become friends with the legendary Roberto Cavalli?

LB: My mother, who is very fashion oriented, introduced me to Roberto
Cavalli, as well as to fashion in general at a young age. Having the
opportunity to know Roberto and attend some of his galas has been very

cool.

B|E: You feel most comfortable when wearing: ________.

LB: Glitter on anything.

B|E: Which item(s)in your wardrobe would you consider a staple?

LB: Boots of all styles and colors. I wear a size 4 1/2, which are
difficult to find, so I buy more than one when I find a something I
like. Roberto made a special pair of gold boots for me, which are
awesome.

Be sure to download her hit single "Home Town Heroes".

Tyler's Take

What up Tyler’s take fans, have a special treat for you today! Introducing the first of many Tyler’s Take: Celebrity Breakdowns. We find an up an coming celeb and size up their style.

Our first Tyler’s Take Celeb is KIIS FM DJ, Sisanie. Spinning the hottest music around, on one of the most influential stations in the country, Sisanie is a trendsetter, a go-getter and an all around fox. Her sassy personality shines in this sexy ensemble. From the in your face leopard print to the oversized leather belt, I’m diggin this look! Normally it’s a challenge to accessorize an already busy array of colors and patterns, but the layered gold bracelets and funky Cherokee style necklace takes this outfit from busy to beautiful. Doesn’t hurt that she’s staring right at ya either…I dare you to stare back! This on air vixen might just turn you to stone.

Check out her site at Sisanie.com!

Tyler's Take

Rapper/Actor Mos Def models in NEIGHBORHOOD’s 2009 1st Ex. Series “Holidays in the Sun” collection. Notice the mix-match Chucks? So did Tyler…

“If you like these, I have another pair at home just like em!”

Who says shoes have to match? I mean they always have, and we accept that, but my right foot tends to be a bit more creative than my left (which is more of a mathematical appendage). So why treat them equally? Way to go Mos Def for breaking the rules! The man is clearly an economist. I mean think about it: you own 10 pairs of shoes, you have ten looks. But you start swapping them out and suddenly the possibilities are endless! I am not saying I’d wear a dress shoe with a sandal but black and red kicks respectively? I say well played sir, well played.

Our neighbors up north get somewhat of a shout out in this BustedTees original…

CANADA, America’s Hat. I don’t typically care for clever T-Shirts because most of them are well, not funny. I recently saw this schlub wearing this shirt, which in my opinion, is quite witty indeed. Yes, Canada is America’s hat. They sit comfortably above us and are often backwards on some major issues. They decorate America with maple syrup, ice hockey and the ever popular Mounties. Yes, Canada is America’s Hat, and if you are a proud American, wear this shirt with pride to accessorize our country! If you are a Canadian, sit on my head.

Kitson Rocks Out

So yea…we are pretty much obsessed with the new clothing line Rockstar. We just got word that the trendy Melrose boutique, Kitson, loves Rockstar as well. Tyler fills us in on the details…

I’ve been following this line from its birth, and predict big things. This country needs a brand like Rockstar – edgy, sexy, rebellious, priced right and most importantly – DIFFERENT. I am tired of the same designers and clothes, everywhere you go. Guys like options too, and it’s about time a line recognized the need for some edgy apparel. I will be following this line closely. You should too. Rock on mofos.

Thomas Pink has combined style and sound in his iPod Commuter tie. Tyler gives his take on the idea...

Oh this one I like! An accessory designed with form, fashion and function. I often think of neckties as the white-collared working man’s hyperbolic noose. They really serve little to no purpose other than hiding buttons and catching food. Sure a great tie can look sharp, especially when decorated with a cool tie clip (see Gabriella Artigas’) but adding an actual function such as the iPod pocket ties together my two favorite loves, music and fashion. And why not, when was the last time you went to a runway show without a soundtrack? If you see me dancing down the street wearing nothing but a tie and jogging shoes don’t be alarmed – I just like to party.

Anyway you put it, blow-up dolls are gross! Male designer/artist from Utrecht, Sander Reijgers, views his creations as ‘works of art’. Tyler weighs in on the matter…

Inflatable love dolls as fashion? It might be because of the gaping plastic mouth on the hood of this jacket, but this guy seems really f****d in the head. I appreciate wearable art and the use of alternate mediums, but this concept simply blows…or maybe it just sucks. Either way, I think I’ll keep my wardrobe orifice free.

May We Have Your Attention Please

B|E would like to introduce the fashionable and highly opinionated young entrepreneur and co-owner of Barnett Ellman, Tyler Barnett. Often dressed in a vest, skinny jeans, skinny tie and chucks, he’s ready to share his unbridled views with the world. READER BE WARNED: Tyler is not a fashion expert or guru by any means. Just an honest cat who knows what he likes, and isn't afraid to give it to you straight. Be on the lookout for his take on what’s hot in the fashion world in our latest installment, Tyler’s Take.
