Scene Screening: Mademoiselle Coco Chanel

Ooh la la! We are loving the influx of stylish films. This Fall we’ll be able to get a glimpse of the legendary mademoiselle, Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. The film, Coco Before Chanel, stars Audrey Tautou and will make its’ big screen debut on September 25th. So far, it looks very similar to Lifetime’s made for tv version- which we loved. We’re sure it will be just as good, if not better.

Free Fashion Show at The Grove

Heads-up fashionistas. There’s going to be a free fashion show tomorrow, May 14th at the iconic Los Angeles shopping haute-spot, The Grove. The event is a part of The Grove’s latest installment, “Fashion @ The Grove”, and will feature designers from resident store, Barneys New York Co-Op. The show is being produced by Mitie Tucker, who is known for being the one who brought models off an airplane for Chanel. Our sources at The Grove also tell us that the fashion show will be styled by Elizabeth Stewart, who has styled Kristin Davis and Cate Blanchett. We’re also told that the show will feature stylish ensembles by Ever, Trovata, Genetic Denim, Petro Zillia, Michelle Mason and Cynthia Vincent, just to name a few. Sounds exciting! The fashion fete will begin at 9:00pm and will be located on First & Bow Street. We’ll definitely be there, so be sure to follow our tweets!

Karl Gets Terminated

Guys- check out this Karl Lagerfeld, Terminator creation that’s in the 10.Deep Spring 2009 Collection, Delivery 2. For those that don’t know, Karl is a fashion photographer and mastermind behind Chanel, Fendi, and his own namesake label. We definitely suggest you step your fashion game up and make the purchase.

Chanel Concept Car

O.M.G. Jin Young Jo , from South Korea’s Honk-it University, has designed a chic and futuristic Chanel concept car. The very sleek, sexy vehicle, named The Fiore, is currently showcased at the New York Car show. Let’s hope this car-couture trend will catch on so the coupe will go into production.

Recession-chic?

Chanel recently launched a new collection of lightweight nylon and lambskin bags entitled “Coco’s Cocoon”. The quilted exterior is very reminiscent of the house’s classic 2.55 bag. These carry-alls come in a very basic color palette of black, ecru, navy and beige. Here at B|E, the Chanel totes are getting mixed reviews style-wise. The design is somewhat bland, but they are completely REVERSIBLE! In these unstable economic times a good two-for-one deal is golden. But will you sacrifice style for practicality?
