In Jay Z’s latest single, ‘Death of Auto-Tune’, he boasts that he could bring back Versace shades if he wanted to. We’re pretty sure he could, seeing how celebrities seem to dictate what’s cool and what’s out. Take Timberland’s for example. The construction boots have been out of style for years now, but suddenly resurfaced at the BET Awards thanks to trendsetters Kanye West and Lil’ Wayne. Their unexpected reemergence caught our eye and had many tweeting about the speculation of their return.

Last night on the Jamie Foxx Show aka The 2009 BET Awards, the black entertain-ment community honored their finest while paying tribute to the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The stars came through and showed their support and while some shined, like Beyonce in Balmain, others where not quite as sparkly.
When our New York based style correspondent told us that shorter length men’s’ shorts were popping up all over the busy streets of NYC, we said we’d have to see it to believe it. After viewing just a handful of Men’s Spring 2010 shows, we can already see that higher hemline shorts are definitely on trend. Check out a few examples from Prada, Dolce & Gabbana and Salvatore Ferragamo (pictured in that order).
Last night Bravo premiered their ‘real life’ version of Gossip Girl, NYC Prep. Despite it being loosely based on one of our favorite shows, we mostly found ourselves annoyed. Oddly enough, following the adventures of actual minors as they shopped, dated and engaged in underage drinking, wasn’t all that appealing. Don’t get us wrong, the show wasn’t a complete fail and a few of the kids even reminded us of our favorite fictional Upper East Siders.
When trying to conceal excess bulge, women have girdles, Spanx and various other ‘tools’ at their disposal. Men on the other hand pretty much have the option to go hard at the gym and work off the extra pounds. That is until Ript Fusion created their body sculpting undershirt that claims to ‘tone the torso area and reduce the appearance of a beer belly’. According to the site, it works by “compacting the abdomen and back to create a flatter silhouette under clothes, and the support offers other significant benefits, such as better posture and a greater sense of security.” …Right. Well ladies, consider this a warning. That ripped tummy may really be a gut in disguise.
We’re sorry Pharrell, but this custom Bape + Casio G-Shock DW-6900 watch looks like a gold-plated bootleg from the Swap Meet. Just saying…
Last week we introduced the Shoe Bag. We hoped that would be the end of multi-tasking accessories, but it appears that was only the start of a new trend. While searching online for normal things to buy, we came across the Hat Bag and Panty Purses. The line between innovation and insanity has clearly been crossed. We do not wish to house our lipstick, Blackberry and wallets in our underwear, nor do we wish to do so in our hats. Please, stop this madness.
For their Summer 2009 sneaker collection, Reebok decided to stick with what they know. Instead of racking their brains for innovative designs, they laced up their sneakers and took a stroll through memory lane. The line consists of classic Reebok designs that have been slightly modified. The line includes the ‘Commitment,’ the ‘Pump Omni Lite,’ the ‘Sir Jam,’ the ‘Hexalite-cushioned Sole-Trainer,’ and the Lightweight Inferno Running Shoes.’ Slight modifications include bright, highlighter hues, and high-top straps. And just like that, old is new again.
Celeb stylist Rachel Zoe confirms via Twitter that the creation of her fragrance is still a go. She wore a ‘prototype’ of her signature scent to the CFDA’s. No word yet on whether it will smell anything like her catchphrase, 'bananas'.
Domenico Dolce & Stefano Gabbana are on a mission to revolutionize the fashion industry. Their first battle was against the current merchandising formula, citing ‘untimely and unrealistic shipment schedules’. In other words, they’re against coats being sold in the summer and anti shorts being placed on shelves in the winter. D&G, we feel the same way (see Rethinking the Merchandising Formula). So what’s their latest revolutionary undertaking? Grab your wallets people, because D&G have announced that they will cut prices between 10 and 20 percent!! The price cuts are set to start spring 2010, and will be in effect for both Dolce & Gabbana as well as D&G. Don’t worry about the future discounted lines looking like cheap knockoffs, because the trendsetting duo still promises to maintain creativity and quality. So when you think about it, it’s kind of like Dolce and Gabbana will be going on a permanent sale. Viva la revolution!
e here in L.A. Bryna’s take on style is one I LOVE to see. She’s classy and customized with threads that reflect her bright and cheerful personality. The country diva isn’t afraid to mix colors, textures and accessories. With a smile that bold and confident, it’s nice to know she has the clothes to match. I particularly like the custom-made monogrammed jeans (Claudio Milano) and torn jacket (J. Gerard). I’m told Laura’s L.A. debut will be at the House of Blues in Hollywood on August 10th – if her performance is as hot as her outfit, we have one smokin’ show to look forward to!Bryna who is spokesperson for the Air Guard Ad Campaign, invites anyone interested in entering the nationwide "Hometown Heroes Contest," to log onto her Web site. Submissions for the campaign, sponsored by Bryna and Southern Beauty magazine, are being taken through the end of June at www.LauraBryna.com.
First Cassie, now Lala Vazquez has joined the ‘look at me- I shaved half my hair’ club. We were shocked when Cassie first leaked pics of her half shaved cranium on Twitter, and thought maybe it will grow on us. It hasn’t. Although we are not advocates of the growing (or should we say shaving) trend, we will admit that Lala is rockin’ the look better.

These fashion forward cupcakes are haute out the oven! The yummy pics were photographed by Swedish photographer Therese Aldgard and styled by Lisa Edsalv.
It's a known fact that women love purses, and a no-brainer that we love shoes. Despite our love for both, we would never think to combine the two. That's exactly what Azumi & David decided to do when they created the Loop Handle Heel Bag. Honestly, we aren't feeling the idea and would feel silly with a random heel protruding from our bags. But to each her own!
Guess we have a reason to watch Dancing With the Stars this time around. Sources confirmed to E! News that iconic fashion designer Vera Wang will join the show for their ninth season. Growing up, she trained as a professional figure skater, which should give her an edge. Either way, our money's on Vera!

Fashion heiress, Bee Shaffer, recently graduated from Columbia University and like most college grads, still doesn’t know what she wants to do. Originally, she was headed down the path as a fashion journalist, working at Teen Vogue and more recently writing a regular column for The Daily Telegraph's style pages. Despite being told that she “inherited her mother’s fashion taste and abilities” by Oscar de la Renta, Bee bid adieu to fashion journalism and decided to focus on, well, just journalism. However, now that she’s graduated, Bee has announced that she now wants to be an actress. With her mother being the Anna Wintour, Bee definitely has the time and resources to buzz around until she’s decided who she wants to be ‘when she grows up’.
